Our non-toxic philosophy

Many companies use greenwashing (a manipulative form of marketing) to deceive people into believing that their products are safer than they actually are through buzzwords and “natural-looking” packaging.

 

However, not all chemicals or synthetic ingredients are toxic. On the other hand, just because a label reads “plant-based” or “all-natural”, it does not guarantee the product is truly clean. 

 

Therefore, we focus on using non-toxic ingredients in our formula instead of these buzzwords. In fact, we even define what “non-toxic” means instead of using it as a marketing term. Each ingredient is examined to make sure it meets our definition of non-toxic: a score of 3 and below on EWG’s skin deep database. 

Why non-toxic living?

While our bodies are highly capable of detoxifying any ingredient that may be harmful to our bodies, the higher the toxic load, the harsher it is on our detoxification systems.

At Fig & Olive, we want to simplify your life. We don’t want you to have to research the ingredients in our products. We have done the work for you. At every opportunity, we promise to try our best to use only the most well-researched, safest and effective non-toxic ingredients.

• We use only safe, non-toxic, yet effective ingredients in our formulation (a score of 3 and below on EWG’s skin deep database)

• We make sure they are gentle on those with allergies and sensitive skin. (No worries, no animal testing involved.)

• We have a “naughty list” of ingredients that never make it into our formulation (Note: We will keep updating this list to reflect any new research): 

  • Synthetic fragrances or perfumes

  • Dyes

  • Sulfates (e.g. SLS, SLES, SCS)
